The BCCI has not officially announced it yet. However, according to what is known from the Indian media, one of the 10 instructions given by the board to the cricketers is participation in domestic cricket.

Such instructions have started to have an impact on Indian cricket. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja have already confirmed their participation in the Ranji Trophy. Now it has been learned that Virat Kohli is also returning to the Ranji Trophy after 12 years.

Virat Kohli  is scheduled to play for Delhi against Railways on January 30. Delhi coach Sarandeep Singh told ESPNcricinfo this news. Delhi also has a match against Saurashtra on January 23. Rishabh Pant and Jadeja are returning to Ranji with that match, both of them play for Saurashtra.

Virat Kohli  could have been seen in this match. However, Virat Kohli told the BCCI that his neck pain has not completely healed yet. The former India captain took the injection on January 8, 3 days after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy ended. Rohit, Gill, Jaiswal will also play in the round starting January 23.

New instructions have been given to ensure 'discipline, unity and positive atmosphere' in the team after the defeat in the New Zealand and Australia series. Therefore, from now on, it is mandatory to play domestic cricket matches to be considered for the national team and get a place in the central contract. Only in special circumstances can one refrain from participating in domestic cricket, but that will be subject to the approval of the chairman of the selection committee, which must be ensured transparently.

Cricinfo could not confirm whether Kohli has spoken to the chief selector and team management about playing in the Tests starting January 30. The match against Railways will end on February 2, if Kohli plays in this match, he will have only 3 days before taking the field in the England series. The ODI series against England starts on February 6.
