13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi is playing in the India U-19 team

India and Australia Under-19 Youth Test is going on at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. A 13-year-old cricketer is playing for the India U-19 team in that match. That was enough for Vaibhav Suryavanshi to make headlines. But Vaibhav stirred up the cricket world by scoring a great century. And he scored that century in just 58 balls, the second fastest in youth Test history. The fastest century was Moeen Ali's 100 off 56 balls for England Under-19 in 2005.

Vaibhav also set the record for the youngest century in competitive cricket, breaking Bangladesh's Nazmul Hossain Shanto's record. In 2013, playing for Bangladesh U-19 team, Nazmul scored a century at the age of 14 years and 241 days against Sri Lanka in a youth ODI.

Wonder boy Vaibhav scored a century in the first innings of the India U-19 team yesterday. Vaibhav added 133 runs in the opening partnership with Bihan Malhotra. In the duo, Bihaan literally became a spectator and watched the storm from close quarters. The pair's 104 runs are the glory. The left-hander scored 104 runs off 62 balls with 14 fours and 4 sixes. India U-19 team was bowled out for 296 runs despite such a stormy start. However, the Indians got a lead of 3 runs. Australia's youngsters finished the second day tomorrow with 110 runs for 4 wickets.

Discussions about Vaibhav, however, have been going on for a long time in Indian cricket. He made his debut in first-class cricket for Bihar against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy last January. At that time, the Bihar Cricket Association said that Vaibhav's official age was 12 years and 284 days. No one has played first-class cricket at a younger age than Vaibhav since 1986. 6 people made their debut in first class cricket at a younger age than him.

Bihar boy Vaibhav first came into the limelight by batting aggressively in various local tournaments. In Bihar's Antjela tournament, Heman Trophy, Vaibhav scored more than 800 runs in 8 matches to top the list of batsmen. Then he scored 400 runs in five matches in Vinu Mankar Trophy. After playing in the U-19 Challengers Trophy, Vaibhav was invited to Bihar's U-23 camp. Then he got a chance in Bihar's Ranji team.

Vaibhav hit the cricket ball very hard, his father first noticed it. Vaibhav's farmer father said that he started dreaming of making his son a cricketer when he saw four-year-old Vaibhav hitting a plastic ball with an impossibly strong force for his age.

Indian stars like Sachin Tendulkar and Prithvi Shar also stole the limelight at a very young age. But none of them, the ideal of prosperity is Brian Lara of West Indies. Like him, the video of the left-handed Lara's record innings of 400 runs has been seen countless times by Vaibhav.
