In the first round of the 26th National Cricket League, the match with the latest start was the first to finish. The Rangpur-Chittagong match played in the third session of the second day at the Shahid Chandu Stadium in Bogra ended today in the second session of the fourth day. Rangpur beat Chittagong by an innings and 81 runs. Dhaka Metropolis also won the first round, beating Barisal by 8 wickets. The other two matches were drawn.

In the match which started late due to bad weather, Rangpur declared the innings with 273 runs for 9 wickets. The Rangpur bowlers then showed their dominance in the Bogra match. Barisal set a target of 63 runs to Dhaka Metropolis at the Sylhet Academy ground. Mahanagar had 22 overs and an hour and a half to reach the target. Marshall Ayub's team reached the target after losing 2 wickets in 15.4 overs.

Follow-on Barisal started the day with 32 not out. The team was all out for 251 runs in the second innings. Tasamul Haque scored the maximum 62 runs. Young off-spinner Ashraful Islam took 5 wickets in the first innings and took 3 wickets in the second innings. Ashraful became the man of the match on his first class debut.

The team succeeded in avoiding losses by playing safe. After Khulna scored 311 runs for 7 wickets in the second innings, the two teams accepted the draw.

Opener Soumya Sarkar, who started the day with 80 runs, returned today by adding 9 runs. His partner Amit Majumdar also returned to the 80s in the opening partnership of 136 runs. Amit scored 87 off 257 balls, Soumya scored 89 off 116 balls.
