Langeveldt sees 'mental problems' of Bangladesh batsmen

Bangladesh all out for 191 runs. The way the batsmen were dismissed has added to the disappointment. Overall, Bangladesh had a very bad first day against Zimbabwe in Sylhet today. However, after such a batting by Bangladesh, Zimbabwe managed to score 67 runs without losing any wickets.

At the end of the day, a person who has experience working with the Bangladesh national team came to the press conference as a representative of Zimbabwe. Many of the old disciples are no longer there, but Zimbabwe bowling coach Charles Langeveldt still has a clear idea about Bangladesh batsmen. The South African coach admitted that that experience has come in handy to some extent.

Speaking at a press conference about the failure of Bangladesh's batsmen, Langeveldt said, "I would call it a mental (error) problem, it can happen in any team's batting." He also cited the example of Nazmul Hossain getting out while picking up Blessing Mujarabani's short ball, "Mujarabani was bowling on the cross seam, which bounced a little too much. This is his (Nazmul's) place to score runs, sometimes it can happen like that."

84 runs for 2 wickets - Bangladesh first session of the day was not too bad. The hosts lost 8 wickets in the next one and a half sessions. It was quite a relief for Zimbabwe to be ahead by 124 runs on such a day for Bangladesh.

Langeveldt also said, "It's a great day for Zimbabwe cricket. I think the bowlers bowled too many short balls in the first session. They didn't let the batsmen play enough. I told them to bowl tight without conceding a few overs. We managed to get Nazmul back, which was the beginning of their disaster.

Zimbabwe bowled only one over with spinners in the first session. But later the spinners got the tail batsmen back. Wellington Masakadza took 3 wickets and Wesley Madhavere took 2 wickets.

At the end of the day, Langeveldt also gave them credit, "The spinners got the tail batsmen back. We had a disciplined day. We stayed within the rules for a long time. I have never seen such a fast wicket in Bangladesh. But there is still a lot of play left. There is no room for complacency."
