Mostafizur Rahman started the current season of IPL in a great way. This Bangladesh pacer is playing for Chennai Super Kings for the first time. On his debut for the new team, he took 4 wickets with 29 runs in 4 overs, which is his career best in IPL.

Chennai lost Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets in the first match of IPL on the day of Mustafiz's great debut for Chennai. They beat the target of 174 runs with 6 wickets and 10 balls in hand. Chennai's new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad started his journey with a win.

Ruturaj and IPL debutant Rachin Ravindra made a pair of 38 runs off 24 balls when they came down to bat for the target of 174 runs. Captain Ruturaj returned with 15 runs, but Ravindra played an innings of 37 runs off 15 balls. Ajinkya Rahane dropped to number 3 and Darryl Mitchell who came to the crease at number 4 also kept the run wheel going. Rahane made 27 off 19 balls and Mitchell made 22 off 18 balls. Before this, Bengaluru could not score more than 173 runs despite the great start and end of the batting innings by Mustafiz's bowling. Today, Mustafiz took 2 wickets in his first over against Bengaluru at Chennai's home ground. He dismissed Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar.
In the next over too, Mustafiz got 2 wickets, sent back Virat Kohli and Cameron Green. Mustafiz took 4 wickets with only 7 runs at the end of the first 2 overs. In the last 2 overs, however, he bowled a little rough. That too was not too bad in match conditions. Despite Mustafiz's bowling, Anuj Rawat's 48 off 25 balls and Dinesh Karthik's 38 off 26 balls eventually made Bengaluru 173 for 6. However, that was not enough.

Chennai is Mustafiz's fifth team in the IPL. Playing for five different teams, Mustafiz got 4 wickets for the first time. Previous best bowling was 3 for 16, in his debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Mumbai Indians in 2016. This is the best bowling of any Bangladesh cricketer in IPL.
