The premier sports institution of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Sports Academy (BKSP) has produced some of the best players in Bangladesh. Afif Hossain is another student of the prestigious institution. He made headlines when he became the youngest player to take a T20 FIF on debut for Rajshahi Kings and was named Man of the Match. The 17-year-old finished with figures of 5/21 which also included the big wicket of Chris Gayle.

Born in Khulna, Afif made his first-class cricket debut for East Zone in February 2017 and scored a century in his first innings against North Zone. He was caught by the Bangladesh Cricket Board for illegal bowling action. But it was cleared by the board in September 2017. An explosive batsman who is flexible in his role and more than a useful off-break bowler, Afif is an exciting talent to keep an eye on.

He made his international debut during the 2019 tour of India and had a good outing in the game which Bangladesh won. So far, Afif looks like a T20 specialist in his skill set but if he can polish them a bit more and be consistent with the bat, he could find himself in the lower middle order in Bangladesh's ODI setup. In a country with no dearth of power hitters, players like Afif will always get opportunities but it's how he seizes those opportunities that will define him.
