Dhawan announced his retirement from professional cricket in a post on social media. As a result, one of the most successful openers will not be seen in the upcoming IPL. He scored 10,687 runs in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20 matches for India.

Dhawan wrote on social media, 'Turning over a new page in life. I have decided to retire from international and domestic cricket. I am not sorry for not being able to play for India anymore, I am happy that I have played for India for so long.'
