India will host the upcoming edition of the ICC World Cup 2023. While India will host the tournament, this will be the first time they will be doing it alone. In the past, they have co-hosted tournaments with the likes of Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh. India is now all set to host the entire tournament itself.
In the past, India has co-hosted the tournament three times. They first co-hosted the tournament in 1987 and did so again in 1996 and 2011. 12 editions of the World Cup have been held so far and the first one was held in England in 1975.
England, the defending champions, won the trophy for the first time in 2019. Australia, on the other hand, is the most successful team in the competition's history, having won it five times. India and West Indies have won the competition multiple times.
ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule:
While the ICC usually announces the World Cup schedule in advance, they are yet to do so for the upcoming edition. For the 2019 World Cup in England, the schedule was announced in April 2018. The game's governing body is likely to announce the schedule soon.
But for now, we have made a tentative ICC World Cup 2023 schedule. According to reports, the tournament is scheduled to be held from October 5 to November 19. The first match at the Narendra Modi Stadium will be between England and last season's winners and runners-up New Zealand respectively. October 5
If recent reports are to be believed, Team India will open their ICC World Cup 2023 account against Australia, while the high voltage India vs Pakistan clash will take place on October 15.
