Jayaraman Madanagopal – Former Cricketer & International Cricket Umpire
Jayaraman Madanagopal is an Indian former first-class cricketer and an international cricket umpire.
Early Life and Playing Career
Born on November 7, 1974, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Madanagopal was a right-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler. He played domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu between 1998/99 and 2003/04. In 33 first-class matches, he scored 1,763 runs at an average of 35.26, including two centuries and a highest score of 199. In List A cricket, he scored 1,189 runs in 37 matches, averaging 45.73.
Transition to Umpiring
After retiring as a player, he pursued umpiring and joined the BCCI panel in 2007. He began officiating in domestic matches and gradually worked his way up to international cricket.
International Umpiring Career

- ODI debut: India vs. South Africa, October 2022
- Selected as an umpire for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup
