One of Bangladesh's longest-serving and most refined cricketers, wicketkeeper-hitter Mushfiqur Rahim started out as a trump card inclusion for the group's lady tour of England, in 2005, matured 18, during which he became the most youthful player to show up in a Test match at Master's.
Mushfiqur captained in the Under-19 World Cup in February 2006, and highlighted in a Test in Bogra (that setting's first) against Sri Lanka the following month, however he could make little of the spin of Murali and Malinga Bandara. After routs on the Test and white-ball legs of the series in Zimbabwe in 2011, he was appointed captain instead of Shakib Al Hasan, a job he served in for 94 internationals, through to 2018 - however the white-ball part of his residency endured only till 2014. Features of his term included a first-time place in the Asia Cup final in 2012 and a whitewash of Zimbabwe in a Test series at home in 2014.
In 2013, Mushfiqur delivered a twofold hundred years against Sri Lanka in Galle in a Bangladesh total of 638, their most noteworthy. In 2017, there were consecutive hundreds against New Zealand and India away - however they couldn't fight off routs. In Mirpur in 2018 and 2020, he scored twofold hundreds against Zimbabwe in consecutive Tests against them 15 months separated; the first of those made him the first wicketkeeper-hitter to score two Test twofold hundreds.
