Nasir Hossain Returns After Ban | Comeback to Competitive Cricket 2025

Nasir Hossain returns to competitive cricket after 20 months. After the ICC ban was lifted, the Bangladesh cricketer returned to cricket today with a match in the Dhaka Premier League.

Nasir was banned in 2021 while playing the T10 League in the United Arab Emirates after being accused of corruption. In September 2023, the ICC banned him from all forms of cricket for two years, including a six-month suspended ban, for concealing information about receiving an iPhone 'gift' while playing the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

Although the news of the ban came to light in January 2024, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) issued a statement today regarding the 33-year-old cricketer's return to the field.

In the statement, the BCB wrote, 'Nasir Hossain has fulfilled all the conditions set by the ICC during the ban. This included participating in mandatory anti-corruption education programs. That is why he has been allowed to return to cricket from April 7, 2025.’

On his first day back on the field, Nasir bowled 10 overs for his team Rupganj Tigers against Gazi Group. He also took one wicket for 31 runs.

Nasir, who has played 19 Tests, 65 ODIs and 31 T20Is for Bangladesh, last played for the national team in January 2018. After that, he played in the domestic league, but he has been more discussed and criticized for incidents off the field than on the field.
