Our team has been extra confidence - Nazmul Hossain

Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain admitted on Sunday (September 15) that their upcoming tour of India will be a tough challenge. However, he expressed confidence that, after their historic series win against Pakistan, they believe they can perform well against a strong Indian team.

Bangladesh won the series 2-0 against Pakistan in Rawalpindi earlier this month. On Sunday, the Test squad left for India while members of the T20 squad are set to join later.

"It will be a challenging series for us but after a good series against Pakistan, there is an extra confidence in our team as well as the people of the country," Nazmul told reporters before leaving for India. "Every series is an opportunity and we will play to win both matches. (We will focus on) what we have to do to win...the process is important and we have to do it right.

"If we do our job right, of course a good result is possible but still it is going to be very challenging. If you look at the rankings they are way ahead of us but recently we have played a good series and the most important thing is how we play good cricket. Five If you can play good cricket in the last session of the day, there is a chance to do well in the last session.

"It is important what plan needs to be implemented to play well for five days and there will be chances to win but let's not think too far ahead and focus on our strengths and how we can play good cricket," said Nazmul.

Nazmul said Bangladesh's pacers are relatively less experienced than their Indian counterparts but stressed that their spinners are capable of performing well on any surface. He, however, emphasized that their success will depend on playing cohesively as a team.

Nazmul said, "Our spin and pace are in good frame. But still if you compare the teams, I think our pacers are comparatively less experienced than them". "Spin wise we are close to them but experience wise I will put them ahead but our spinners can bowl in any condition and I can say this much - every player, pacer, spinner or batsman, whoever plays, every player plays. When we play as a team Then a hundred percent difference can be made."

Meanwhile, Nazmul's form with the bat is a matter of concern for the team. He scored just 32 at 8 against Sri Lanka in the two-match Test series at home earlier this year and he also struggled with the bat against Pakistan, scoring just 58 in three innings. Bangladesh batting coach David Hemp recently told Cricbuzz that Nazmul is just one good innings away from regaining his form.

Asked about his batting, Nazmul said: "My personal goal is to win the Bangladesh team and if I can contribute for the team, I feel as a batsman. The preparation required to do that, I have done. The rest is in the hands of Allah and me. Will try my best to contribute for the team."

Bangladesh's first Test against India will begin on September 19 in Chennai, with the second match scheduled for September 27 in Kanpur. After the Test series, Bangladesh will face India in three T20Is on October 6 (Gwalior), October 9 (Delhi) and October 12 (Hyderabad).
