Shakib-Tamim to face off in Legends League
They are long-time teammates. However, their relationship has hit rock bottom on various issues. The conflict between Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal is not unknown to anyone. Shakib-Tamim are going to face off on the field again.
The Legend 90 League, a tournament of former international cricketers, is starting on February 6 in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. Tamim will play for Big Boys Unicare in this seven-team tournament, while Shakib will be seen in the Dubai Giants jersey.
Tamim recently announced his decision to retire the Bangladesh jersey forever. Last night, Legend 90 posted a reels video of Tamim on Facebook.
There he said, 'I am excited to announce that I am going to play for Big Boys in Legends 90. Watch me and other cricket legends play live in Raipur from February 6 to 18. This is going to be legendary. We'll see.'
Tamim is currently busy playing in the BPL. He is leading last year's champion Fortune Barisal. Shakib was also supposed to play in the BPL. The world's best all-rounder was bought by Chittagong Kings.
But Shakib is unable to return to the country after the political change. An arrest warrant has recently been issued against him in a check forgery case. In addition, he is serving a ban on international cricket due to a faulty bowling action.
Although Shakib has not yet said goodbye to international cricket. But the situation says that he may never be seen playing in the Bangladesh jersey again. As such, like Tamim, he is also a former international cricketer. So there is no obstacle to playing in the Legend 90 League.
Tamim will get legends like Chris Gayle, Tillakaratne Dilshan, and Herschelle Gibbs as teammates in this new league. Shakib's team includes Thisara Perera, Dwayne Smith, Brendan Taylor, Kevin O'Brien.
Two more Bangladeshis will play in the Legend 90 League - Abdur Razzak for Big Boys Unicare and Mohammad Ashraful for Gujarat Samp Army. Razzak is currently a BCB selector, while Ashraful is the assistant coach of BPL franchise Rangpur Riders.
Shakib and Tamim last faced each other in last year's BPL. With Shakib not being able to play in this year's BPL, many thought that the two might not be seen together on the field again. But thanks to the Legend 90 League, they will be seen facing each other in India next month
