The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the team for the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup in a slightly different way, not through a traditional press conference. BCB has announced the 15-member team in a special video message on social media this afternoon. The expatriates scattered in different countries of the world told in that video who is in the women's world cup team of Bangladesh.
After the opening speech by Habibul Bashar, head of women's wings of BCB and former captain of Bangladesh men's cricket team, 10 expatriate Bangladeshis from 10 countries announced the names of 15 players. Bangladesh men's team captain Nazmul Hossain was also in the 2 minute 41 second video. Nazmul wished the Niggers well.
The presence of Taj Nehar, who has not yet played any international match, is a surprise in the team. The 26-year-old top-order batsman, however, was in the Bangladesh 'A' team for the tour of Sri Lanka.
Apart from this, all-rounder Disha Biswas, who is waiting for her debut, is also in the team. 20-year-old Disha also got a chance in the 2023 Women's T20 World Cup squad. However, this pace bowling all-rounder has not yet had a chance to play any match for the national team.
