Zimbabwe Tour of Bangladesh 2025: Big Names Confirmed in Squad

Zimbabwe has announced the team for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Batsman Sean Williams has returned to the team for this series after recovering from a back injury. In addition, captain Craig Ervine, who withdrew from the Ireland series at the last minute, has also returned to the Bangladesh series team.

Apart from these two big stars, there have been some other changes in the team. Wicketkeeper-batter Tafadzawa Siga, who made his Test debut against the West Indies two years ago, has been called up again.

Wellington Masakadzao has also returned to the team. This spinner last played a Test against the West Indies in 2023. On the other hand, Wesley Madhevere, who got a chance in the Ireland series after Ervine's withdrawal, has retained his place in the squad.

The only new face in the team is leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa. Wicketkeeper batsman Joylord Gambi, young pacer Newman Namhuri and top-order batter Takudzwanashe Kaitano were not included in the squad.

Head coach Justin Sammons is confident about the Bangladesh series squad, saying, “We are excited. Because we are entering a time where Test cricket will be our main focus. I am sure that these cricketers will improve individually and as a team after facing new challenges in new conditions. We are building the team in such a way that we have the maximum balance and are ready to face any challenge.”

Bangladesh last played a Test against Zimbabwe in 2020. Bangladesh won that Test by an innings and 106 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim scored a double century.

Zimbabwe will arrive in Bangladesh on April 15. The first of the two-Test series will begin on April 20. The second Test begins on April 28.
