Best of June Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana

Two Indians, Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana, won the ICC Men's and Women's Player of the Month awards for June. This is the first time that Indians have topped both categories in the same month.

Bumrah took 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 at an economy rate of just 4.17 in the recently concluded T20 World Cup. The fast bowler who played a major role in India's title win also won the Man of the Tournament award.

Jasprit Bumrah has edged out team-mate and India captain Rohit Sharma and World T20 highest run-scorer Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the race for June's man of the month.

Rohit scored 257 runs at a strike rate of 156.70 in the World Cup. He became the second highest run scorer of the season. His leadership also caught everyone's attention. Showed great ability to use the bowlers correctly and set up the fielders especially to get India off to a flying start in the opening.

Afghan opener Gurbaz scored the highest 281 runs. He took 6 catches as a wicketkeeper. He was instrumental in taking the team to the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time.

However, Jasprit Bumrah has surpassed these two and became the massera mainly because of his 'impact'. Especially in the final with 6 wickets in hand when South Africa needed only 30 runs from 30 balls, he turned the game around by bowling. He took 1 wicket with only 6 runs in his last 2 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah's wicket-taking streak began against Ireland in June. He took 2 wickets on the way to bowl out the Irish for just 96 runs. After that, Jasprit Bumrah won India's match against arch-rival Pakistan. He took 3 wickets for 14 runs in that match. Despite being wicketless against USA, he did not give more than 25 runs.
